The Office of Tribal Relations, in partnership with American Indian Studies and Global Study Abroad, supported the 2019 Indigenous Cultural and Education Exchange (ICEE) Program.  In February 2019, Indigenous students and staff from the University of Sydney and the University of Tasmania visited Arizona.  They had the opportunity to visit four different tribal communities in northern and southern Arizona, the Grand Canyon, and spent time at the UA and NAU campuses learning about the programs and services that advance Indigenous initiatives.

On July 18, 2019, four Native American students and one faculty member from American Indian Studies traveled abroad and visited Australia and New Zealand.  The group was hosted by Indigenous faculty and students at the University of Tasmania, the University of Sydney, and the University of Waikato.  Some of their activities consisted of educational and cultural tours, faculty lectures, and social interaction with Aboriginal and Maori students and elders.  The ICEE Program is in its third year and collaborates with Northern Arizona University’s Office of Native Initiatives providing a unique 3-week education and cultural exchange for Native American students and faculty.
