This week brought UArizona faculty and administrators to Washington to advocate for the University’s priorities in the Fiscal Year 2021 Appropriations process. Dean Julie Funk and Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies, Jamie Boehmer, of the College of Veterinary Medicine were on the Hill to discuss the UA’s newest college, the nation’s veterinary workforce, and the V-V Ranch land exchange.

On Tuesday, Shane Burgess, Vice President of Agriculture, Life and Veterinary Sciences and Cooperative Extension and Dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences visited with the delegation and Arizona’s two representatives to the APLU’s Council for Agricultural Research, Extension, and Teaching; Andy Groseta and Kevin Rogers. These visits focused on the importance of agricultural research funding and the strengths of Arizona’s agriculture economy.

In addition to these visits, UArizona faculty were in town to advocate for NASA missions and Department of Defense research capabilities. Next week, GCR welcomes faculty to advocate on behalf of the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, and the Department of Education’s Title VI International Education programs.
