ABOR Virtual Meetings & Tuition Update

April 7, 2020

The Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR) will be holding all board and committee meetings virtually for the foreseeable future and has postponed tuition-setting for the public university system indefinitely.

 ----

University priorities requiring ABOR action will still move forward at virtual meetings led by regents from remote locations throughout the state. The board held the April board meeting, typically hosted in Tucson on Main Campus, on Thursday 4/2 and was largely focused on continuing discussions to update system-wide metrics that each university will be measured against in the years to come. Each university president also highlighted some of their leading faculty members in the fight against COVID-19. Furthermore, Dr. Larry Penley was elected to serve another year as ABOR Chairman.

The April board meeting is typically headlined by tuition and fee proposals from each university, however, ABOR has postponed all tuition setting events (Public Tuition Hearing; Tuition Workshop; Board Meeting on Tuition Proposals) to allow each institution time to determine the best path forward in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. UA leadership is working diligently to determine the path forward both in terms of timing and proposal details as we approach the end of the spring semester. Details and information about the new tuition setting events schedule will be released as soon as a determination is made by ABOR.
