April 11, 2021 Update

  • Cases on campus remain very low.  Over the past 10 days – 39 new cases out of 9,952 tests, .4% positivity rate.  We are seeing fewer students and employees testing, in part because many are now fully vaccinated.
  • Capacity at the UArizona state POD is way up, but we are beginning to see a lack of demand.  For the first time, appointments are going unfilled. Please help spread the word that every Friday thousands of appointments are released for the next week, but additionally, same-day appointments are often released. Anyone needing assistance getting an appointment can contact covidhelp@arizona.edu. The current challenge for our community is serving the hard-to-reach and vaccine hesitate members of our community. 
  • The UA has now administered more than 152,516 shots.  By AZDHS’s estimation, 34.1% of Pima County residents have received at least one dose, including 82.5% of our 65+ population, and 58.3% of the 55-64 age bracket. (See AZDHS’s data dashboard, Vaccine Prioritization) In Pima County 355,715 people have received at least one dose of vaccine.  Over 556,752 doses have been administered in the county.
  • According to the demographic data provided to us by the State this week, an all-time high of 24.6% of the people coming to the UArizona POD have identified as Hispanic/Latinx.
  • In partnership with the Pima County Health Department, President Robbins announced that our 2021 graduates will be able to invite a limited number of guests to our commencement ceremonies in May.

  • Of the 9,952 tests administered in the past 10 days, 5,138 have been to off-campus students with a 0.6% positivity rate
  • On-campus students have a positivity rate 0.2%
  • Employees – 2 positive employees over the past 10 days, out of 1,023 tests, 0.2% positivity rate. 
  • 246,837 tests administered total

Rt Values

The Rt in the 85719 zip code is 1.02.  Pima County’s Rt is 1.00, and Arizona’s is 1.02.  They are bouncing around a bit, but generally all 3 hover around 1.
