Arizona Legislature Advances Resolution to Allow Dreamers to Qualify for In-State Tuition; AZ Voters Must Provide Final Approval

May 18, 2021

The Arizona legislature referred to the voters a measure that would make undocumented students who graduate from Arizona high schools eligible for in-state tuition. To become law, SCR 1044 must still be approved by the voters in November 2022. Voters in 2006 prohibited undocumented students from in-state tuition as part of Proposition 300. Three Republican Senators and four Republican Representatives joined all Democrats to pass SCR 1044.  UA, ASU and NAU advocated in support of the resolution.
