A new affinity group has been created to bring together faculty and staff who are actively engaged in the community. Whether that engagement is through teaching and learning, research, outreach, or service, there is a lot we can learn from each other so we can leverage partnerships and maximize our community impact.

Last week the group met for the first time in-person at the FORGE (Finding Opportunities and Resources to Grow Entrepreneurs) downtown. We learned about the FORGE’s mission to inspire and cultivate entrepreneurial thinking and how they are using the recently renovated historic building downtown to advance our community’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. The FORGE at Roy Place is divided into three different sections based on community needs. There is a public space on the main floor with street access that is available for workshops and other gatherings, an enclosed room in the back that can seat up to 120 people for group discussions and other gatherings, and a series of both private and collaborative working rooms upstairs. All these spaces are available for the public or campus partners to utilize.

At our next meeting on April 6, we will go to the new Student Success District and learn about how teams there are engaging with our community and identify ways we can all partner together more effectively.  If you know someone who would benefit from being part of this monthly meeting, please have them contact Julie Katsel at jkatsel@arizona.edu.
