The University of Arizona Federal Relations Office advocates for federal research funding each year on a variety of important issues from biomedical research to planetary science. In the FY 2022 omnibus, the UA succeeded in securing $143.2 million for the UA-led NASA Near-Earth Object (NEO) Surveyor Mission. This critical mission would make significant progress in identifying the majority of NEO’s large enough to cause severe regional or global damage. Other FY22 successes include funding increases for hypersonics research; water reuse technologies for military bases; water resources research; fire science research; and the domestic rare earth element supply chain.
