ASUA teams with GCR for UA Cares summer blood drive
Donors from the campus and the community donated blood July 9 during a drive held at the Tucson Marriott University Park. The blood supply is critically low right now, as rising temperatures cause blood donations to decrease during the summer. UA Cares Ambassadors and Associated Students of the University of Arizona helped recruit donors, while other support came from Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Tucson Metro Chamber, and the Jefferson Park and Sam Hughes neighborhoods.
Special thanks to ASUA executive officers Adriana Grijalva, Jasmine Tafolla and Alicia Hall for attending the drive and actively participating in donor recruitment. Through our fall, spring and summer blood drives, UA Cares has impacted 579 lives this year. It is important to note that one blood donation and just one hour of your time can save up to three lives. Our next blood drive is scheduled for Sept. 24, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Campus Store at the Student Union Memorial Center.
