Promoting civic engagement
The Community Relations team spent the past few months working with Associated Students of the University of Arizona President Adriana Grijalva and campus partners to promote nonpartisan civic engagement leading up to this year's general election. As the voice of U of A students, Grijalva led this group as the Community Relations team facilitated a community town hall, campus-wide messaging and numerous nonpartisan voter engagement strategies. The team worked with partners in county government to have a vote center and in-person early voting opportunities available for the campus community. These efforts, in turn, led the university to be recognized by a nonpartisan D.C.-based initiative called the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge, which listed the U of A as one of the most engaged campuses for college student voting out of a pool of more than 1,000 higher education institutions.
