South Tucson Athletics Event

Government & Community Relations joined University of Arizona Athletics and Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI) Initiatives in South Tucson for an annual event with Hispanic community leaders. Many elected officials shared the podium with University leaders at a packed American Eat Company to recognize the importance of our mutual engagement, including an increasing number of UA-bound students from the South Tucson community.

The crowd heard from Pima County Board Chair Adelita Grijalva, Tucson Mayor Regina Romero, Tucson City Councilmember Richard Fimbres, President Robbins, Dr. Marla Franco, Athletic Director Dave Heeke, and were especially excited to hear from Coach Jedd Fisch.
