UA College of Nursing Participates in Arizona Chamber Workforce Panel
This week Dr. Connie Miller, Chair of General Nursing and Health Education Division within the College of Nursing, participated in a panel discussion held by the Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry. The event titled “State of Arizona’s Healthcare” was held in Phoenix and attendees represented healthcare organizations from across the state. The panel discussion was moderated by Dr. Cara Christ, the former Director of Department of Health Services, who led Arizona through the COVID pandemic. Dr. Miller spoke about the challenges related to the national nursing shortage and how the University of Arizona is committed to addressing the acute workforce shortage. It was a great opportunity to educate the healthcare community about UA’s unique nursing program in Gilbert. Most of the questions from the audience were addressed to Dr. Miller and were related to retaining and recruiting nurses.
