ABOR Committee Advances Extension for Coach Adia Barnes

The ABOR Finance, Capital & Resources committee approved a two-year extension of Coach Barnes’ current contract based on athletic performance and coaching success. She was named a 2020 Naismith Coach of the Year Finalist and 2021 semifinalist. Barnes is the only coach in school history to win at least 20 games twice in her first four seasons and lead the program to its first ever NCAA Championship appearance this year. The women’s basketball program has been consistently improving under Barnes’ leadership making this contract extension well deserved. If approved by the full board at its April meeting, the contract will keep Barnes in Tucson through April 2026.
