UA Working to Evacuate Afghan Nationals to Safety
For the past few weeks, the Federal Relations team has been working to evacuate dozens of Afghan nationals who are researchers, students, and artists with affiliations to the university out of Afghanistan and bring them to safety in the United States through the State Department’s refugee visa programs. Several families were able to evacuate, thanks in large part to collaboration between the Department of State, the White House, the Arizona delegation, and support from our military personnel on the ground in Kabul. Several families still remain in-country, and Federal Relations continues to work closely with the Arizona delegation and the Department of State to find workable solutions to get them to safety. Please contact Federal Relations if you are working on a visa case for an individual or family affiliated with the university and we will collaborate with you on viable next steps.
