College of Engineering Dean Provides Update to the Arizona Legislative Mining Caucus
The Arizona Mining Caucus invited David Hahn, Dean of the University of Arizona College of Engineering, to the State Capitol to provide an update on the progress of the new School of Mining. The bipartisan caucus consists of over 30 legislators dedicated to ensuring Arizona creates sound policies that support a strong and sustainable mining industry.
Last year the state provided $4 million to the College of Engineering to establish Arizona’s only School of Mining. The School of Mining is an interdisciplinary effort that is focused on providing students with broader and more sophisticated mining skills of the future.
Dean Hahn explained that the school is off to a strong start with three new strategic faculty hires and the selection of interim Director.
Legislators were excited to receive the update and thanked Dean Hahn and the University of Arizona for supporting a key Arizona industry.
