Arizona Representative Jennifer Pawlik from Legislative District 17 joined the College of Nursing faculty and the state relations team for a tour of the University of Arizona’s Gilbert site. The location is in the heart of Downtown GIlbert and is anchored by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing program that emphasizes integrative health by blending conventional medicine with complimentary approaches to Mind-Body-Spirit and well-being. The program was the nation’s first BS in Nursing that incorporates integrative health practices to bring holistic care to a world in need. Students in the Gilbert program work with modern simulations and hands-on interactive mannequins to learn the skills needed to become successful registered nurses with a focus on integrative management of chronic conditions and serious illnesses.

In addition to the BSN-IH, the UA and Town of Gilbert agreed to expand the university’s lease last December to grow the UA’s presence by offering a Master of Science for the Entry to the Profession of Nursing program, directed toward graduates with other degrees who wish to become nurses. The program will launch at the Gilbert site next fall and is anticipated to enroll cohorts of 96 students each. Once up and running, the Gilbert site will eventually enroll 400 students.
