Dean Hahn Participates in PCFR Event Discussing the Importance of Copper
Last week, University of Arizona’s College of Engineering Dean, David Hahn, was a guest speaker at a Phoenix Committee on Foreign Relations (PCFR) event "Copper: Arizona's Strategic Role in the Global Energy Transition". Dean Hahn was joined by Dan Kravets, Vice President of Corporate Development & Exploration at Freeport-McMoRan. The event program focused on Arizona’s role in addressing the global copper needs which are a result of technology advancement, artificial intelligence applications, and global decarbonization initiatives. Dean Hahn shared the College’s vision for the new School of Mining and elaborated on the work being done to develop the mining workforce of the future. This next generation of mining engineers will be trained across multiple disciplines including law, social sciences, and public health. The event was held at the Phoenix Art Museum with approximately 150 attendees.
