Annual Hispanic Chamber of Commerce event celebrates contributions to Hispanic business community

GCR hosted a table at the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce annual Black & White Ball, an annual celebration recognizing the contributions of individuals and organizations to the Hispanic business community. The event was sold out, with approximately 1,200 attendees. Representing the University of Arizona were GCR’s Sara Fleury and Jane Surgent, Director of the UA Bilingual Journalism Program Jessica Rivas and UA Vice President of Hispanic Serving Institution Initiatives Marla Franco. Other guests at the UA table were Rep. Sarah Liguori (Dist. 5), Rep. Charles Lucking (Dist. 5), Skye Lucking, Rep. Mariana Sandoval (Dist. 13), Sergio Sandoval and Roman Campuzano.
Business awards were given to the following luminaries:
- Woman of the Year: Stephanie Parra of All In Education
- Entrepreneur of the Year: Ivan Jacobo of Anhelo Restaurant
- Corporation of the Year: PepsiCo
- Advocacy Award: Jorge Mendoza Yescas, Consul General of Mexico in Phoenix
- Man of the Year: Devin Booker of the Phoenix Suns
- Legacy Award: Luis Gonzalez of the Arizona Diamondbacks
