Cases on campus remain very low.  Over the past 10 days – 39 new cases out of 9,952 tests, .4% positivity rate.  We are seeing fewer students and employees testing, in part because many are now fully vaccinated. Capacity at the UArizona state POD is way up, but we are beginning to see a lack of demand.  For the first time, appointments are going unfilled.

Sometimes it feels like every week in Washington is Infrastructure Week, and this last week was no exception. President Biden released the first part of The American Jobs Plan, a $2.5 trillion infrastructure bill which provides federal support across a number of national interests.

The higher education community recently released the #DoublePell sign-on letter. With nearly 1,200 signatories, including the University of Arizona, the letter kicks off a developing campaign across the higher education community to grow support for doubling the maximum Pell Grant award to $13,000.00.

The ABOR Finance, Capital & Resources committee approved a two-year extension of Coach Barnes’ current contract based on athletic performance and coaching success. 

We are seeing some elevated Rt values.  We want to keep the Rt below 1.

As our State Relations team advocates for University of Arizona’s New Economy Initiative at the Legislature, we have been given the opportunity to also meet with various stakeholders, local elected officials, and other community leaders across the state to garner support for these critical proposals.
