ABOR held their February board meeting last week, focuses were on ASU's State of the Enterprise update, approval of NAU's new Executive Vice President and University Provost, and UA's three-year TRIF budget. 

The Senate Appropriations Committee invited the University of Arizona and Raytheon to the State Capitol to provide an update on the state’s investment in UA’s hypersonic wind tunnel lab. Last year the state provided $3.5 million to upgrade the wind tunnels as part of the New Economy Initiative (NEI).

The House passed a stopgap funding measure to avert a government shutdown when the current Continuing Resolution runs out on February 18.

As of February 4, 2022, the Arizona Legislature introduced 1,533 bills, more are expected to be introduced by the February 10 deadline. University of Arizona State Relations has already begun lobbying many of the bills that impact university operations.

House passes the America COMPETES Act, a little over a week after the introduction of the nearly-3000 page bill.
